Govt will host the last Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY hackathon in Bengaluru

In Bengaluru, on May 8–9, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will host the grand finale and exhibition of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) Auto-Adjudication Hackathon, which seeks to utilize artificial intelligence to improve the processing of health claims.

The National Health Authority (NHA), in partnership with the IndiaAI Mission and IISc Bangalore, will be in charge of planning the event, according to the ministry.

In addition, the nationwide hackathon has been a huge success, with over 3,500 participants registering through the official website, demonstrating an increasing interest among inventors, technologists, and researchers in using AI in public health systems.

The government claims that the two-day forum will provide a forum for showcasing cutting-edge solutions aimed at increasing the efficiency, correctness, and transparency of claims adjudication under the AB PM-JAY.

Additionally, it stated that the finalist teams will offer sophisticated AI and machine learning-based solutions to important issues like radiological image-based validation, compliance with Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs), clinical document categorization, and the identification of fabricated or AI-generated medical documents.

These remedies are thought to have a high chance of being implemented in the real world, which would enhance the speed and accuracy of claims processing.

In addition, the program will include panel discussions with specialists from government, business, startups, and academia on topics like the “Future of Claims Adjudication” and “Building AI for Indian Healthcare. ”

Furthermore, another session will discuss ‘Fraud, Waste, and Abuse in the Era of AI,’ covering the responsible use of technology in fraud detection as well as issues of transparency, accountability, and data privacy.

Ayushman Bharat is one of the largest publicly funded health assurance programs in the world, processing about 40,000 claims every day across over 1,900 treatment packages, and the government has emphasized that it is increasingly employing AI-driven strategies for claims administration.
