The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) issued a notice on Tuesday stating that cosmetic goods are not permitted for use via injections and cautioning that such behaviors are in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940 and the Cosmetics Rules of 2020.
In a public statement, the CDSCO stated that items sold as injections are not considered cosmetics and cannot be utilized by individuals, experts, or cosmetic centers.
“No cosmetic product may be utilized for injection by customers, aesthetic clinics, or experts. The notification said that “cosmetics are only meant to be rubbed, sprinkled, poured, or sprayed on the human body. ”
The regulator stated that items intended for cleaning, beautifying, enhancing attractiveness, or changing the look of the human body or any portion of it are considered cosmetics under the law.
According to the regulation stated in the notice, “Cosmetic refers to any item designed to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, sprayed on, introduced into, or otherwise applied to the human body or any part of it for the purposes of cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or changing the appearance, and includes any article intended for use as a component of cosmetic. ”
It went on to say that cosmetics cannot be used by experts or individuals for medical reasons.
According to the CDSCO, misleading claims and the use of forbidden ingredients in cosmetic products are also prohibited and are subject to prosecution under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and associated regulations.
The message stated that “no cosmetic may pretend or claim to impart any idea that is false or misleading to the prospective user, according to the rules of labelling. ”
No one is permitted to modify, erase, or deface any mark or inscription made by the manufacturer on the container, label, or wrapper of a cosmetic product, according to the regulator.
According to the CDSCO, the list of limited and Generally Not Recognized as Safe (GNRAS) chemicals is issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
To the appropriate state licensing bodies or the regulatory authority, the health regulator requested the public to report any such infractions or questionable activity.
