Budget 2026 has all the provisions required to sustain India's health

State Minister Anupriya Patel on Sunday stated that, the Union Budget 2026 includes all the provisions required to keep India healthy.

Patel pointed out that the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget placed particular emphasis on chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and health.

Patel stated, “India has advanced on the path of self-reliance, and no sector is untouched by it today.

Hailing the Biopharma Shakti Mission of Rs 10,000 crore, the MoS claimed that it will help “India to become a manufacturing hub of biopharma in the coming time, which means it is a big step towards self-reliance”.

Patel told that 10,000 allied health professionals will be created in the nation over the next five years, along with new institutes, due to the growing need and demand for allied health experts in the future.

One lakh multi-skilled care professionals will also be trained under the provisions of this budget to strengthen geriatric care,” the Minister stated.

Additionally, in order to encourage medical value tourism, the nation will establish five regional medical hubs where the general public and our patients will have access to clinical care, education, and research facilities through cooperation between the state governments and our provision sector.

Most significantly, NIMHANS, which has a stellar reputation throughout the nation, was the only facility in South India to address mental health issues up until this point.

We have chosen to establish another NIMHANS under this budget in Sati, Tezpur, and Ranchi for the convenience of the people of North India who are dealing with mental health issues,” Patel stated.

Noting that the existing mental health insurance will also be strengthened, she applauded the waiver of customs tax on 17 cancer and 7 rare disease drugs.

I am pleased that the Finance Minister has included provisions to improve emergency and trauma treatment in our district hospitals, as well as highlighting the basic customs duty on cancer and rare illness pharmaceuticals in this Budget.

All things considered, this budget provides all the provisions required to keep India healthy. We greatly appreciate the Finance Minister’s attention to the nation’s health in this budget, Patel said.
