The Ayush Ministry is advancing artificial intelligence (AI) as the next frontier for Ayurveda and the wider Ayush sector, it said on Saturday.

The ministry has been exploring AI across healthcare, research, education, information services and investment facilitation. It is building an emerging ecosystem that combines specialised AI applications with broader collaborations under national AI initiatives.

The ministry is strengthening this AI ecosystem through its participation in the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge, with a focus on developing AI-enabled solutions specifically for the Ayush sector.

According to an official statement, key use cases include voice-based Electronic Health Records (EHRs), disease-trend detection and personalised treatment-support solutions. These applications aim to use AI to improve healthcare delivery, generate clinical insights and support patient-centric care across Ayurveda and other Ayush systems.

The ministry has also partnered with IndiaAI and the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The collaboration creates opportunities to explore AI, language technologies, digital health and advanced computing for the Ayush ecosystem.

The ministry has also made its AI-related artefacts available on AI Kosh to support wider research and dissemination in the Ayush and Ayurveda domains.

Through its Bhashini collaboration, Ayush Grid portals that serve Ayurveda practitioners, students and citizens now support 22 scheduled Indian languages. The initiative aims to expand access and participation across the country’s linguistic diversity.

At the citizen-facing level, the MAISP Chatbot provides conversational access to Ayush-related information, including Ayurveda.

The ARP Research Assistant, a generative AI-based tool, extends the Ayush Research Portal and helps researchers navigate Ayurveda and other Ayush literature more efficiently.

The eLMS Chatbot uses AI to support Student Life Cycle Management for Ayurveda and other Ayush educational institutions. The e-CHARAK Chatbot works as a medicinal-plant trade assistant, connecting conversational AI with the ecosystem that supports Ayurvedic pharmacology.

Yoga Saarthi functions as an AI-powered chatbot that recommends yoga practices, while Nivesh Saarthi serves as an AI assistant for investment opportunities in the Ayush sector.

Together, these initiatives highlight the expansion of Ayush Grid from digital portals into interactive, intelligent and user-focused AI services.
