The VR training facility for medical and nursing education, a step towards incorporating immersive technology into healthcare education, was unveiled by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Monday.

The facility will offer organized, simulation-based training for students and healthcare workers and was established by the renowned health institute in partnership with MediSim VR at the AIIMS SET Facility.

With the long-term objective of incorporating such technologies into mainstream education, the cooperation will concentrate on researching and assessing the use of AI-enabled VR solutions in medical curricula, including their impact on skill development, assessment, and training standardization.

AIIMS, a top medical school and research facility in India, is anticipated to have a key role in establishing standards for the use of novel teaching approaches throughout the healthcare sector.

At the launch, AIIMS Director M. Srinivas stated that for the nation to be in the top league, all areas must be included, such as medical advances, medical instruction, training, and education.

Furthermore, he said that VR-based simulation training provides an immersive learning environment that closely resembles actual clinical environments, which aids in improving talent development, assessment, and training standardization.

By giving healthcare practitioners increased accuracy and confidence, as well as establishing new standards for training, the integration of virtual reality might transform medical education, according to AIIMS Professor of Cardiology and Head, SET Facility, Ambuj Roy.

According to MediSim VR COO and co-founder Adith Chinnaswami, the industry partnership seeks to establish a framework, supported by research and ongoing validation, for incorporating VR into traditional medical education.
