Union Health Minister JP Nadda stated on Monday that nine lakh health camps have been held nationwide under the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan.”
Over 3.6 crore individuals have been checked for non-communicable diseases including cancer, diabetes, and hypertension by the health camps, Nadda said during a media gathering in the nation’s capital.
Swasth Nari, Sashakt Nari is the name of the health program that was introduced on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and will continue until Gandhi Jayanti. Specialists attended each of the 9,00,000 health camps that have been organized thus far. We have already screened close to 3.6 crore, and by October 2, I think we would have surpassed 4 crore,” Nadda stated.
People have been screened for anemia, breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, diabetes, and hypertension during the national health camps.
Additionally, the camps offered families nutrition counseling sessions, life-saving immunizations for youngsters, and prenatal checkups.
Additionally, the health camps gave new Ayushman/PM-JAY cards, registered blood donors, and performed screening for sickle cell disease and tuberculosis.
The country’s health strategy has evolved over the past ten years, according to the health minister, and since 2014, a holistic approach to health has been implemented.
“With this strategy, we began examining health by integrating detection, prevention, health promotion, curative, and palliative components into our system,” Nadda stated.
The government has set up 1,79,000 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs as part of this ongoing strategy, and these serve as the initial point of contact with 140 crore citizens.
Additionally, ASHA employees begin monitoring a woman’s health and check-up schedule the day she becomes pregnant and share the information with the state government.
Additionally, he discussed the progress made in the rate of institutional deliveries.
Our rate of institutional deliveries has risen from 79% to almost 90%. We were able to make this accomplishment by providing incentives to ASHA employees. Every mother receives a free delivery, and the government covers the cost of transportation to and from the facility, Nadda stated.
He also discussed the health programs that PM Modi has started to encourage a healthy lifestyle, including the Fit India Movement, POSHAN Abhiyan, and Khelo India.
The Minister also emphasized how awareness of mental health issues has improved and how access to high-quality medications has helped individuals live normal, healthy lives.
